The AS5 works much more efficiently at lower wind speeds meaning that many sites are now suitable for a wind turbine that were previously uneconomical. The Power Curve above is currently undergoing an independent power performance report by Germanischer Llyod (GL), the industry leading certification and testing body. The AS5 starts generating power at 2 m/s and at 4 m/s the AS5 is generating almost 20% of its total capacity. Other 5 kW units are typically generating 0.2 kW or 4% of capacity at 4 m/s.

The AS5 is a ducted augmented wind turbine (DAWT) which consists of a polycarbon shroud (enhancement unit) placed in front of a wind turbine rotor system. As air enters the enhancement unit, it is accelerated using Airsynergy's patented induction method, which uses air to move, redirect and accelerate air. Increased velocity on the rotor leads to exponential increases in energy produced.

While conventional wind turbines are wholly dependent on the quality of the winds they are exposed to, the AS5 is much more efficient at lower wind speeds and a site with an average wind speed as low as 3 m/s may now be suitable for an AS5.

Reduced noise

The AS5's enhancement unit reduces noise emmissions arising from the rotor unit meaning that it is significantly quieter than other turbines.

The AS5 creates a more laminar airflow that reduces turbulence in the air which results in less stress on the turbine and lower long term maintenance costs.

Gerry Ryan is President/CEO of DGC Capital Contracting Corp., a premier contracting company serving the retail and commercial sectors, based in Mount Vernon, NY. He is also the CEO of Aris Renewable Energy and Managing Partner of many real estate holdings in the New York area. In 2002, Gerry was recognized by Ernst & Young with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, for his work with the Fulfilling a Dream Fund and a second award for Business Services Category.

Our streetlight system will also be grid connectable meaning the system can send excess power back through the grid.
